McManus played a role in [[First Intercontinental Development Corporation|FIDCO]]'s activities in [[Lebanon]]. A letter dated June 29, 1983, from McManus to [[George K. Pender]] of [[First Intercontinental Development Corporation|FIDCO]], written on [[White House]] letterhead, acknowledged an update on [[First Intercontinental Development Corporation|FIDCO]]'s efforts in the rebuilding of [[Lebanon]] and expressed the [[United States Government|U.S. government]]'s interest in the success of these efforts. This correspondence highlights his involvement in the company's operations and its connections to high-level government interests.[^1]
