New York University is a private research university in [[New York City]]. [[Aviem Sella]] had almost completed his requirement for a Ph.D. in computer science at New York University by 1984, when he was approached to handle [[Jonathan Pollard]]. His technical training was seen as an asset in evaluating and winnowing down Pollard's materials.[^1]
