After [[Gerald Richards]] answered an advertisement in *Better Life Monthly,* in which the church offered to help readers set up child care organizations and camps, Grossman came to Port Huron from New Jersey to help set up Brother Paul's. On that trip, according to the Michigan State Police, he committed sexual acts with two Port Huron boys aged 10 and 14; the police had photographs of the 10-year-old in the motel room. He and Richards had applied to join Big Brothers and been rejected. A letter from Grossman found on Richards at his arrest in July 1976 proposed "child care" sites in nine states and the District of Columbia and described the monthly payments per boy from counties (up to 150 dollars), states (up to 400) and federal agencies (up to 700). By 1977 he was a fugitive under federal flight warrants on two counts of criminal sexual conduct and was believed to be in Washington State.[^2][^4]

On March 4, 1977, Robert F. Leonard, president-elect of the National District Attorneys Association, wrote to Benjamin Civiletti, Assistant Attorney General-designate for the Criminal Division, that there might be "a national conspiracy made up of an inter-relating network of foster homes, churches, nature camps and other similar programs," and that "someone that needs investigation is a person by the name of Dyer Grossman, who it appears, goes from state to state setting up these organizations, and in some cases, affiliating with a New Jersey church under circumstances which avoid any scrutiny by the IRS." Some of the costs, he wrote, were "unknowingly being provided by public funding," and many of the men who traveled between states to abuse children at these camps were "very wealthy individuals and some are respectable community leaders in their home towns."[^3]

Grossman was said to have co-drafted the charter of Brother Paul's, to have been closely associated with [[Francis Shelden]], and in a letter to Richards to have described a twelve-year-old boy he had obtained through a Big Brother program. Michel Caignet, a Belgian neo-Nazi, published the Gaie France magazine in the 1980s and 1990s, a pedophile publication that served as a front for distributing child abuse materials. Caignet, associated with far-right groups, used the magazine to connect pedophiles and share child pornography among subscribers. The publication, known for its explicit content, was investigated in the broader child abuse networks connected to the [[Marc Dutroux]] case. Caignet's activities included coordinating with other pedophile groups, with Gaie France linked to the [[CRIES]] organization, which used [[UNICEF]] basements for filming. Police raids in the 1990s uncovered Caignet's role in producing and distributing child abuse images, leading to his arrest. Caignet was convicted for possession and distribution of child pornography, with the magazine serving as a key outlet for the network. His neo-Nazi background aligned with extreme right-wing circles, overlapping with the networks documented in the [[X-Dossier]]. Caignet denied allegations of direct abuse but was found with extensive collections of materials.[^1]
Caignet's Gaie France magazine was one of the main publications for the pedophile community in Belgium, with subscribers exchanging materials through the magazine's contacts. The publication featured advertisements and addresses for child prostitution, tying it to the broader ring investigated during the Dutroux affair. Caignet's role as publisher made him a central figure in distributing child abuse images, with police seizing copies and subscriber lists during raids. The magazine's connection to CRIES was highlighted in the X-Dossier, where it was alleged to have facilitated the exchange of materials among members. Caignet's conviction stemmed from evidence of his involvement in this network, with the magazine serving as a key outlet for the distribution.[^1]

Caignet's neo-Nazi affiliations placed him in extreme right-wing groups, with the Gaie France magazine promoting racist and pedophilic content. The publication was raided as part of the investigation, uncovering links to international pedophile rings. Caignet's activities included hosting meetings where materials were shared, with the magazine providing a cover for these exchanges. His role in the network was exposed during the 1990s probes, leading to his conviction for child pornography offenses. The X-Dossier noted Caignet's involvement in the broader web of abuse, with Gaie France tied to other groups like [[Spartacus International]]. No direct ties to Dutroux were proven, but the timing aligned with the 1996 investigation.[^1]

Orlando Bosch was a Cuban pediatrician, trained in [[Toledo, Ohio]], who fought briefly against [[Fulgencio Batista]] in the Escambray and then left [[Cuba]]. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor (born February 19, 1960) is the second son of [[Elizabeth II|Queen Elizabeth II]] and [[Prince Philip|Prince Philip]]. A photograph dated to March 2001 shows Andrew with his arm around the waist of Giuffre, then 17, with Maxwell standing behind them in a doorway. According to the account associated with the image and with Giuffre's later filings, the photograph was taken at Maxwell's home in the Belgravia district of London. The Mail on Sunday published a cropped version of the photograph in 2011 and the full image circulated in 2019.[^3]

Andrew questioned the photograph in public statements, saying in 2019 he had "no recollection" of the image being taken and could not confirm whether it had been doctored, while noting he was not in the habit of wearing the clothes shown. Maxwell, in her own statements, has at points cast doubt on the surrounding account. The original photograph was reported to be held by Giuffre's lawyers, and questions about the absence of the negative recurred in commentary.[^3]

After a dispute over a paper she had co-written on large language models, she emailed a list of women and allies in Google Brain about the company's treatment of the paper and of diversity work; Google cut off her corporate account. The head of Google Research, [[Jeff Dean]], told employees that the paper had been submitted before internal review was complete, that a cross-functional team had found it "didn't meet our bar for publication," because it "ignored too much relevant research" on the efficiency of large models and on mitigating bias, and that Gebru had written that she would leave unless certain conditions were met: "We accept and respect her decision to resign from Google." *Platformer,* which published both emails, reported that Google had terminated her.[^1] The paper, "On the Dangers of Stochastic Parrots: Can Language Models Be Too Big?," written with the linguist Emily Bender and others, appeared at the ACM Conference on Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency in 2021.[^2]

### The 1985 Intelligence Letter
In November 2004, Hamilton received a document from a source described as a reliable U.S. intelligence contact. Dated May 16, 1985, the letter indicated that PROMIS software was being provided to an Arab sheik for resale and distribution, brokered by [[Manucher Ghorbanifar]], [[Adnan Khashoggi]], and [[Richard Armitage]]. The document had been signed by [[William Bradford Reynolds]], who authenticated it when shown the letter. Hamilton considered this letter significant, as all copies were said to have been ordered destroyed. The letter corroborated INSLAW's longstanding claim that PROMIS had been distributed internationally through channels that included Middle Eastern arms brokers with Iran-Contra connections.[^4]

Blake Masters (born August 18, 1986) is an American venture capitalist and author who served as chief operating officer of [[Thiel Capital]] and president of the [[Thiel Foundation]] from 2018 to 2022, and who coauthored *Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future* with [[Peter Thiel]] in 2014. Masters was the 2022 Republican nominee for U.S. Senate from [[Arizona]], losing the general election to the incumbent Democrat [[Mark Kelly (politician)|Mark Kelly]] after winning the Republican primary with the financial backing of a Thiel-funded super PAC. His career is the second documented instance, alongside [[JD Vance]], of a Thiel-network operative placed into electoral politics through direct capital deployment.[^1][^2][^3]

The Masters and Vance campaigns together were the Thiel network's electoral deployment in the 2022 cycle. Thiel spent approximately fifteen million dollars on the [[Protect Ohio Values PAC|Protect Ohio Values]] super PAC supporting Vance in Ohio and an additional fifteen million dollars on the Saving Arizona PAC super PAC supporting Masters in Arizona, for a total 2022-cycle deployment of approximately thirty-two million dollars. [[CNBC]] reported the combined figure in November 2022. Both candidates came from inside the Thiel commercial orbit: Vance from [[Mithril Capital]] and [[Narya Capital]], Masters from Thiel Capital and the Thiel Foundation. The Vance campaign produced a sitting senator who became vice president in 2025; the Masters campaign lost the November 2022 general election to Mark Kelly by approximately five percentage points.[^5][^6][^7]

The Saving Arizona PAC was funded almost entirely by Thiel, with additional contributions from the cryptocurrency billionaires [[Cameron Winklevoss|Cameron]] and [[Tyler Winklevoss|Tyler Winklevoss]], who joined the effort in June 2022 per [[Forbes]] reporting. Thiel added a reported 1.5 million dollars in July 2022 as the primary approached, and the PAC resumed general-election spending in September 2022 after a period in which Thiel was reported to be hesitant about continued funding. The [[Federal Election Commission]] raised questions about the PAC's disclosure of its spending, documented in the [[Arizona Mirror]] reporting on the FEC inquiry. The Winklevoss cofunding extended the documented donor network beyond Thiel himself into the broader crypto-and-tech-billionaire cohort that overlaps with the [[PayPal Mafia]] and Thiel-network commercial orbit.[^6][^7][^8]

The pattern of the deployment, with a single donor capitalizing ideologically aligned operatives placed into Senate primaries, is documented across the Protect Ohio Values and Saving Arizona PAC Federal Election Commission filings and in the contemporaneous [[Politico]] and [[OpenSecrets]] reporting. The two campaigns ran in parallel under the same Thiel strategy: identify operatives inside the commercial orbit, capitalize their primaries through a dedicated super PAC, and convert the commercial-network relationship into an elected-office relationship. Vance won the Senate seat and then the vice presidency, while Masters won his primary but lost the general election in a competitive state.[^5][^6]

Leopold Raymond Maurice Francois Marie Ghislain Lippens was born on October 20, 1941, in Knokke, Belgium, into a prominent family with deep roots in the region's political and colonial history. His grandfather had served as governor-general of the Belgian Congo, and his father held the mayoral office of Knokke before him. His brother [[Count Maurice Auguste Lippens]] became a leading Belgian banker and businessman.[^1]
Lippens served as mayor of Knokke-Heist for over forty years, from 1979 until his death in February 2021. He cultivated a public profile centered on the coastal resort's golf culture, claiming friendships with international figures including Jackie Kennedy, [[Ted Kennedy]], and Donald Trump. He died on February 19, 2021, from leukemia, aged 79.[^1]
Leopold Lippens was born in 1941 into a family whose members included his father, also mayor of [[Knokke-Heist|Knokke]], and his grandfather, a politician and former governor-general of the [[Belgian Congo|Congo]] who was made a baron by [[Leopold III]] in 1936; Lippens inherited the title on his father's death in 1986. He moved into his father's old office as mayor in 1979 and held it until his death. By his own account he knew Jackie Kennedy and [[Ted Kennedy]], and he became friends with [[Donald Trump]] over golf. In 1990 he banned "frigobox tourists" who brought their own lunch to the beach. He stepped back for health reasons in November 2020, was found to have leukemia, and died on February 19, 2021, at 79, during a council meeting he could not attend. His brother is the banker [[Count Maurice Auguste Lippens]].[^1][^2]

### The Tolpaertpolder Inquiry
In January 2020 the West Flanders prosecutor's office in Bruges opened an investigation into whether Lippens was guilty of a conflict of interest. The municipality wanted several hundred homes built in the Tolpaertpolder, which required rezoning agricultural land. [[Audit Vlaanderen]], an agency of the Flemish government, had received information that Lippens had taken part in council debates on a part of the polder in which members of his family, including his children, had interests, and found that he should have recused himself.[^3]

### X-Dossier Allegations
During the [[Marc Dutroux]] investigation, Leopold Lippens and his brother Maurice were named by multiple victim-witnesses in the [[X-Dossier]] compiled by investigating magistrate [[Jean-Marc Connerotte]]. The principal witness, X1 ([[Regina Louf]]), described childhood prostitution organized at villas in [[Knokke-Heist]] near the [[Royal Zoute Golf Club]], frequented by figures including Leopold and Maurice Lippens, [[Paul Vanden Boeynants]], and [[Baron Benoit de Bonvoisin]].[^2]
A second witness, X2, corroborated allegations concerning child abuse parties organized at Maurice Lippens's villa, identifying Leopold as present, along with Belgian commissioner Etienne Davignon, politician Karel Van Miert, and others.[^3] X1 described Leopold Lippens as participating not only in organized sexual abuse but in events involving what she characterized as a "snuff network." X-Dossier materials were leaked to journalists in 1999 and released in summary form through WikiLeaks in 2009.[^2]
Belgian law enforcement and prosecutors treated the X-Dossier testimonies as unverified; the investigating team under Connerotte was replaced in 1997 amid controversy over the removal of the lead magistrate. Lippens was never charged or tried in connection with the X-Dossier allegations, which he denied.[^3]
In the [[X-Dossier]] investigation under Judge [[Jean-Marc Connerotte]], the witness X1, [[Regina Louf]], named Leopold and Maurice Lippens, with [[Paul Vanden Boeynants]] and [[Baron Benoit de Bonvoisin]], among her most violent abusers, and described abuse at apartments in Knokke. The witness X2 said she had been at parties with underage girls in villas in Knokke, including Lippens's, and at the Hotel Cromwell, with his friend [[Etienne Davignon]]. Lippens was never charged.[^4]

### Fortis

Fortis had just completed the takeover of the Dutch ABN Amro group when, on July 26, 2008, in an email to the chief executive, Jean-Paul Votron, later obtained by the financial daily *De Tijd,* Lippens wrote that he had "major questions about the future" and: "You should know that I've never been so afraid for the future of Fortis." The next day he told VRT's program *Terzake* that difficult circumstances were coming in the markets and the economy, called the ABN Amro takeover the acquisition of "a beautiful gem," and said: "I would say, ladies and gentlemen, invest as fast as you can." Within months the value of Fortis shares collapsed, and groups of private investors went to court.[^3] In September 2009 Lippens admitted to "a whole series of errors, notably in communication," none of them, he said, a fault, and criticized the Belgian government for having said "too bad for the shareholder" and the Dutch authorities for having "betrayed their word"; the former prime minister [[Yves Leterme]] replied that "everyone knows clearly who led the company into its problems."[^1]

A witness identified as X2 described child abuse parties organized at Maurice Lippens's villa in [[Knokke-Heist|the Knokke area]], as well as events involving underage girls at the Cromwell hotel in Knokke. Among those named by X2 as present at these events were [[Count Leopold Lippens|Leopold Lippens]], Belgian politician [[Etienne Davignon]], [[Karel Van Miert]] (later European Commissioner), and Paul Van Gheluwe.[^2]
The primary X-Dossier witness, X1 ([[Regina Louf]]), described both Lippens brothers as participants in the same elite networks of organized abuse that she identified as extending to hunts at country estates and involving other named public figures including [[Paul Vanden Boeynants]] and [[Baron Benoit de Bonvoisin]].[^3]
Belgian authorities did not bring charges against Maurice Lippens on the basis of the X-Dossier testimonies. The investigating team was replaced in 1997 following the controversial removal of magistrate Connerotte. The X-Dossier summary was subsequently leaked to journalists and released through WikiLeaks in 2009. Lippens denied the allegations.[^2]

Lejeune and Russo were said to have been lured into a white van driven by Dutroux and Lelièvre, who had been scouting victims on the instructions of Nihoul, and the cell to have been built in 1993 with the help of a handyman, [[Claude Thirault]], who reported Dutroux's plans to kidnap girls for profit. During the search of December 1995 a locksmith and Michaux were said to have heard children's voices from the cellar and to have attributed them to outside sources, and videotapes seized then were returned to Martin. On his release, Dutroux was said to have found the girls dead and buried them at Sars-la-Buissière beside Weinstein, whom he had killed in November 1995. Autopsies were described as showing malnutrition, restraint and sexual trauma. Phone records were said to show more than twenty calls between Dutroux and Nihoul in early August 1996, and investigators of Nihoul's company [[Achats Services Commerces]] (ASCO) to have found vehicles matching witness descriptions. A letter to Lejeune's father was said to describe the abduction as ordered for a "snuff orgy." Nihoul, the lawyer [[Annie Bouty]] and [[Marleen De Cokere]] were charged as accomplices in the Delhez abduction. The [[X-Dossier]], compiled under the prosecutor [[Michel Bourlet]] and the investigating judge [[Jean-Marc Connerotte]], linked the case to the murder of [[Christine Van Hees]]; [[Regina Louf]] (X1) described abductions for blackmail parties at venues linked to [[Baron Benoit de Bonvoisin]] and [[Count Leopold Lippens]]; and the [[Morkhoven Workgroup]] reported possible matches of Lejeune in pornography connected to [[John Stamford]]'s [[Spartacus Network]] and [[Gerrit-Jan Ulrich]]'s Zandvoort files, and to [[Apollo Disks]]. Connerotte's removal in October 1996 was followed by the White March; Justice Minister [[Melchior Wathelet]] had approved Dutroux's early release in 1992.[^1]

The parliamentary commission recorded that during the search of 128 rue de Philippeville in December 1995 [[Rene Michaux]], alone in the cellar, heard children's voices, which fell silent when he called for quiet, and that he put them down to children in the street, as the locksmith suggested; cassettes seized in the searches were sent to Brussels, and the question of who had viewed them was never answered.[^2] The writer S. Dovey wrote that Lejeune and Russo were lured into a white van driven by Dutroux and Lelièvre, who had been scouting victims on the instructions of Nihoul; that the cell was built in 1993 with the help of a handyman, [[Claude Thirault]], who reported Dutroux's plans to kidnap girls for profit; that Dutroux, on his release, found the girls dead and buried them at Sars-la-Buissière beside Weinstein, whom he had killed in November 1995; that the autopsies showed malnutrition, restraint and sexual trauma; that phone records showed more than twenty calls between Dutroux and Nihoul in early August 1996 and investigators of Nihoul's company [[Achats Services Commerces]] (ASCO) found vehicles matching witness descriptions; and that a letter to Lejeune's father described the abduction as ordered for a "snuff orgy." Max R. Levchin co-founded Confinity, Inc., with [[Peter Thiel]] in December 1998 and was its chief technology officer and a director until March 2000, when Confinity merged with [[Elon Musk]]'s X.com Corporation; he was then chief technology officer and a director of the merged company, renamed [[PayPal]], Inc., in February 2001. Before Confinity he founded NetMeridian Software, a developer of security applications for handheld computers, which he ran from January 1996 to December 1998, and co-founded SponsorNet, a web advertising service. PayPal's registration statement of September 2001 named Thiel and Levchin as the two executives on whose continued work the company depended to a significant degree, and disclosed that a fraud episode between July and October 2000 had cost it 5.7 million dollars in unauthorized charge-backs and that MasterCard had fined it for excessive charge-backs.[^1] In September 2001 Levchin held 2.6 percent of the company's stock. [[eBay]] completed its acquisition of PayPal, valued at about 1.5 billion dollars, on October 3, 2002.[^1][^2]

Levchin is the founder, chairman and chief executive of [[Affirm]], a consumer lender founded in 2012. Under its registration statement of November 2020, its Class B shares carried fifteen votes each and would convert to ordinary shares on the seventh anniversary of the offering or earlier if Levchin and his wife, Nellie Minkova, left the company, fell below half their holdings, or died. Its Series E investors included entities affiliated with Founders Fund, whose partner [[Keith Rabois]], formerly an executive at PayPal and a lawyer at [[Sullivan & Cromwell]], sat on Affirm's board, and Jasmine Ventures Pte Ltd, which put in about 150 million dollars; Levchin himself bought 4.5 million dollars of the Series E.[^4]

Raymond Charles "R.C." Horsch (born Hoersch, 1943, died May 2025) was a [[Philadelphia]] filmmaker, photographer, and self-published author who directed the 1973 pornographic feature [[The Erotic Memoirs of a Male Chauvinist Pig]] and was convicted over four decades of check forgery, counterfeiting, drug manufacturing, passport fraud, and marijuana cultivation. In recorded interviews he said that he had worked in the early 1960s as a freelance wiretapper and burglar for the [[Wackenhut Corporation]]. He died of a lung condition in May 2025. Thirteen months later a traffic stop involving his son, [[Eugene Horsch]], led the [[Philadelphia Police Department]] and the [[Federal Bureau of Investigation|FBI]] to the family house at 417 West Chew Avenue in the [[Olney, Philadelphia|Olney]] neighborhood, where investigators recovered more than one million image and video files. Police have said the material shows five women who appear to be dead, and that two other women connected to the house are missing. No body has been recovered and no homicide charge has been filed against anyone.[^1][^2][^3]

Horsch was born in the [[Pocono Mountains|Poconos]] near [[Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania]], and grew up on a farm before his family moved to [[Chalfont, Pennsylvania|Chalfont]] in [[Bucks County, Pennsylvania|Bucks County]]. His father, of the same name, flew cargo gliders for the [[United States Army Air Forces|Army Air Forces]] in the [[World War II|Second World War]]. Horsch graduated from [[Central Bucks High School]] in 1961 as a National Merit Scholar and editor of the school magazine. A psychologist who examined him in 1985 measured his IQ at 140 and recorded that he had been expelled from two colleges.[^1][^4][^5]

In [[Trenton, New Jersey]], he said, a man he described as the head of the [[American Nazi Party]], whose name he could not recall, hired the firm to tap his own telephones because he suspected his employees of theft, and Horsch's employers had him install a second tap on the same line to listen to the client. In Philadelphia he said he was installing an infinity transmitter in the kitchen telephone of a girlfriend of "a Philadelphia politician named Crumlish" when she came home; he told her he was from the telephone company, and she made him coffee while he finished. In February 1973 he and John Butterworth, a news cameraman for [[KYW-TV]], shot The Erotic Memoirs of a Male Chauvinist Pig in Philadelphia with the New York performers [[Georgina Spelvin]], [[Tina Russell]], [[Darby Lloyd Rains]], and [[Helen Madigan]]. The film depicts rape, bondage, urination, and sex with a character presented as a schoolgirl. Horsch said 60 to 70 percent of the roughly 20,000 dollar budget came from [[Salvatore La Russa|Salvatore "Sam the Barber" La Russa]], who ran the Bag of Nails bar at 13th and Locust Streets, from "money that he had laying around in a shoebox behind the bar. In 2009 a woman at the house called township police to report noises. Officers under Chief [[Robert Scafidi]] found 455 marijuana plants in the basement, firearms including an M1 carbine, 25 pounds of gunpowder, bondage devices, pornography showing women who appeared to be bleeding, and identification cards belonging to several different women. Horsch ran into the surrounding fields and was caught. Scafidi said the district attorney's office took the identification cards for follow-up. "I really don't know what happened after that," he said. On March 20, 2009, on Ontario Street in Kensington, Horsch slowed his green Jeep beside a nine-year-old girl, called to her, got out and approached her; she ran home, and police found him nearby with binoculars, a camera with a telephoto lens, an eye patch and condoms in the Jeep. In 2010 he was convicted in Municipal Court of luring a child into a motor vehicle and corrupting the morals of a minor, and Judge Roger Gordon sentenced him to two and a half to five years, a conviction that would have required registration under Megan's Law. The prosecutor, Jill Fertel, had asked for the maximum after learning what the New Britain police had found. Horsch appealed for a new trial in the Common Pleas Court; the girl and her mother were too afraid to testify again, the charges were dropped, the conviction was vacated, and in 2015 a Common Pleas judge granted his petition to expunge the case. In September 2026 a court clerk refused *The Philadelphia Inquirer* access to the file on the ground that expunged records should have been destroyed. "No one was getting arrested for what Raymond Horsch was doing," Fertel said.[^18] He pleaded guilty to federal drug and weapons counts in January 2011, was sentenced to 53 months, and was released in June 2013. At a 2014 exhibition in a Kensington gallery, Horsch showed what appeared to be autopsy photographs of an unidentified woman, ending with video of her body being loaded into an incinerator. He said the footage was shot at "a Kensington warehouse where the city morgue would send unidentified remains." His release for the show read: "The Medical Examiner totally botched the autopsy and didn't even bother to sew her up properly. My horrible photograph is all that is left of her, the only trace of her short, sad existence. She has nothing else, not even a name." He later posted a series that intercut women acting out their own deaths with images of people dead of overdoses, which he described as made in "unknowing collaboration with the Philadelphia Medical Examiner" and city paramedics.[^15]

His passenger carried an identification card in the name of [[Blair Tonzelli]], who was reported missing in February 2023. A photograph of Tonzelli, nude, with an apparent black eye and blood near her mouth, had been in rotation as the lead image on Horsch's website from about 2020 until at least September 2023, seven months after the missing-person report. The search of the Olney house that followed, and its results, are set out under [[Olney House Investigation]].[^12][^16]

On September 16, 2026, Deputy Police Commissioner [[Frank Vanore]] said that investigators had reviewed about 30 percent of more than 600,000 images and 70,000 videos from the house, had identified 58 people in them, and believed five of the women shown to be dead. He described a video in which Horsch gives a woman drugs and money, handcuffs her to a bed, and tightens a zip tie around her neck with pliers until she stops moving. Her family identified her as [[Nicole Fusaro]], 27, last seen in Kensington on July 19, 2018. Amy McHale, last seen at the house in 2016, and Tonzelli remain missing. "We did never recover a body here," Vanore said.[^2][^14][^15][^16]

Ray Kurzweil is an American inventor, author and futurist. In *The Age of Spiritual Machines* (1999) and *The Singularity Is Near* (2005) he popularized the [[Singularitarianism|technological singularity]], the idea, named by Vernor Vinge in 1993, of a point at which machine intelligence outruns human understanding, and set out a "law of accelerating returns" with forecasts for 2029 and 2045.[^1] On December 14, 2012, he announced that [[Google]] had hired him as a director of engineering focused on machine learning and language processing.[^2]

### The Singularity Summit and Singularity University
In 2006 [[Peter Thiel]], who had begun funding [[Eliezer Yudkowsky]]'s Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence the year before, joined Yudkowsky and Kurzweil in founding the [[Singularity Summit]], first held at Stanford; in December 2012 Singularity University acquired the summit and the institute sold it the "Singularity" name, and the institute became the [[Machine Intelligence Research Institute]].[^1] Singularity University was founded on September 20, 2008, at a founders conference hosted by S. Pete Worden, director of the [[NASA]] Ames Research Center, by a group that included Kurzweil, the X Prize chairman [[Peter Diamandis]], and Robert Richards and Michael Simpson of the International Space University; NASA later clarified that its personnel were not founders. It was housed at the NASA Research Park at Ames.[^3]
Thiel later turned on the risk wing of the movement: in 2025 he named Yudkowsky one of the "legionnaires of the Antichrist" in a private lecture series.[^4] [[Émile P. Torres]] and [[Timnit Gebru]] grouped Kurzweil's singularitarianism with transhumanism, extropianism, cosmism, rationalism, effective altruism and longtermism in their [[TESCREAL]] bundle.[^5]

Richard J. Herrnstein grew up in New York City, the child of Hungarian immigrants, attended the City College of New York, and took a graduate degree at [[Harvard University|Harvard]] in 1955. After three years in the Army he joined the Harvard faculty in 1958, and at his death he was Edgar Pierce Professor of Psychology, having taught there for 36 years, the longest tenure in his department. In the 1970s he linked rewards and behavior in work on learning, motivation, addiction and economic choice. He served on the Faculty Council and the Administrative Board. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in early June 1994 and died at his home in Belmont, Massachusetts, on the night of September 13, 1994, weeks before the publication of *[[The Bell Curve]],* written with [[Charles Murray]].[^1]
### "I.Q."
In "I.Q.," published in *The Atlantic Monthly* in September 1971, Herrnstein drew on figures compiled by [[Arthur Jensen]] from studies of identical twins raised apart to argue that inheritance accounted for about 80 percent of individual differences in I.Q., and set out a syllogism in four steps: if differences in mental abilities are inherited, if success requires those abilities, and if earning and prestige depend on success, "then social standing (which reflects earnings and prestige) will be based to some extent on inherited differences among people." In a society dismantling its social and legal barriers, he argued, a person's standing would be determined "pretty much on the basis of what he is born with." Of the "Galbraith plan," whose author, he said, held that all ethnic groups and races have equal potential for achievement, he told the *Crimson:* "I don't know that's not true, but I sure as hell do know that he certainly doesn't know if it is." His colleague [[B.F. Skinner]] called the article "a good exposition to date of the problem," a "social question, rather than a race question."[^2] His later books included *IQ and Meritocracy* and *Crime and Human Nature.*[^1]
### The Bell Curve
*The Bell Curve,* which Herrnstein and Murray published with the Free Press in 1994, argued that intelligence is substantially heritable, that it predicts life outcomes better than socioeconomic background, and that measured differences between racial groups have a partly genetic basis. In *The New York Review of Books* in December 1994, Charles Lane found that it cited thirteen scholars who had received more than 4 million dollars from the [[Pioneer Fund]] and seventeen contributors to *[[Mankind Quarterly]].*[^3]

[[Tommy Marson]] was a known [[Gambino Crime Family]] associate. He was observed by the Indio Police Department in August 1981 meeting with [[Dr. John Philip Nichols]], the Cabazon Administrator, and other [[La Cosa Nostra]] underworld figures. These meetings were believed to involve financial transactions. Marson reportedly lent [[Dr. John Philip Nichols]] $50,000 to start the [[Cabazon Indian Reservation]], the first Indian card room in the nation.[^1]

The writer Cheri Seymour wrote that these meetings involved financial transactions. Marson reportedly lent [[Dr. John Philip Nichols]] $50,000 to start the [[Cabazon Indian Reservation]], the first Indian card room in the nation.[^1]

Nichols was said to have introduced Riconosciuto to Frye, and Riconosciuto to have done a railgun exercise for [[Dr. Harry Fair]] at Picatinny. The murder solicitation was said to have involved five intended victims and drugs, and Nichols to have served 18 months, his son acting as administrator. He was said to have done business in [[Saudi Arabia]], [[South Africa]], [[Panama]], [[Nicaragua]], [[Guatemala]], [[Mexico]], [[Chile]], [[Brazil]], the [[Netherlands]], [[England]], [[Canada]], [[France]], [[Spain]], [[Japan]], [[Korea]] and [[Taiwan]], to have managed a Coca-Cola bottling plant in São Paulo in 1960 and led in the Chilean Pentecostal movement, to have written himself a ten-year contract with the tribe in 1978 for half the profits of any business he brought in, and to have proposed security for [[Crown Prince Fahd]]'s palace. Hughes said he had been told in Nichols's presence to take 5,000 dollars as partial payment for the Alvarez killings, and that the tribe's gambling enterprises were fronts for government-sanctioned covert military activity. Following Elizondo's public disclosure of AATIP, Reid is said to have launched a "scorched-earth" campaign against him. This investigation ultimately found no wrongdoing on Elizondo's part. Roughly 700 OpenAI employees signed a letter threatening to resign and follow Altman to [[Microsoft]], and on November 20 Sutskever signed that letter and posted on the platform X that he "deeply regret[ted]" his participation in the board's actions and would do everything he could to reunite the company. Altman was reinstated under a reconstituted board, and Sutskever lost his board seat while remaining an employee. He largely vanished from public view in the months that followed before announcing his departure on May 14, 2024, thanking the company and saying he was confident OpenAI would build artificial general intelligence that is "safe and beneficial."[^4][^5]

### The Cellar and the Searches
The cellar was said to have been built in 1993 with the help of [[Claude Thirault]] under the guise of drainage work, with soundproofed cells behind shelving. During the searches of December 1995 officers were said to have heard cries from the cellar, confirmed by a locksmith, and to have attributed them to outside sources; items seized, including videotapes, a speculum, chains and chloroform, were said to have been returned to Martin unexamined. The Othello team was said to have eliminated Dutroux as a suspect in January 1996 and to have missed the abduction of [[An Marchal]] and [[Eefje Lambrecks]] on August 22, 1995, while he was under surveillance. White vans registered to Nihoul's company [[Achats Services Commerces|ASCO]] were said to have been used to transport victims, more than twenty calls between Nihoul and Dutroux to have been made around the Delhez abduction, and payments to have reached accounts of Dutroux in several European countries. The bodies were described as showing trauma beyond starvation, and a letter from Dutroux to Julie's father as saying the abduction served an organized "snuff orgy." The removal of Judge [[Jean-Marc Connerotte]] in October 1996 was followed by the White March; Justice Minister [[Melchior Wathelet]] had approved Dutroux's release in 1992.[^1]
The parliamentary commission found that during the December 1995 search of the Marcinelle house [[Rene Michaux]], alone in the cellar, heard children's voices that stopped when he called for silence, and attributed them, as the locksmith suggested, to children in the street. It also found that he had taken chloroform, a speculum and vaginal cream from the house, that these items were missing from the investigating judge's inventory, and that he told the commission he had later handed them to the lawyer of Dutroux's wife.[^2] The writer S. Dovey wrote that the cellar was built in 1993 with the help of [[Claude Thirault]] under the guise of drainage work, with soundproofed cells behind shelving; that the Othello team eliminated Dutroux as a suspect in January 1996 and missed the abduction of [[An Marchal]] and [[Eefje Lambrecks]] on August 22, 1995, while he was under surveillance; that white vans registered to Nihoul's company [[Achats Services Commerces|ASCO]] carried victims, that more than twenty calls passed between Nihoul and Dutroux around the Delhez abduction, and that payments reached accounts of Dutroux in several European countries; and that a letter from Dutroux to Julie's father said the abduction served an organized "snuff orgy." On March 3, 1955, Bureau of the Budget Director Rowland Hughes recommended that Eisenhower designate Rockefeller as a member and vice chairman of the OCB and as chairman of a new Planning Coordination Group. Eisenhower approved these recommendations on March 10, 1955. The Planning Coordination Group (PCG), operating within the framework of [[NSC 5412]] governing covert operations, comprised Rockefeller as chairman, the Under Secretary of State, the Deputy Secretary of Defense, and the Director of Central Intelligence. Its function was to "advise and assist the responsible operating agencies in the coordinated development of plans and programs" and to serve as the "normal channel for giving policy approval" for CIA covert operations. CIA director [[Allen Dulles]] and State Department officials refused to cooperate, and their obstruction stymied the PCG's initiatives. Rockefeller recommended the group's abolishment in September 1955 and resigned as Special Assistant to the President in December 1955.[^18]

He met with Michael Riconosciuto, [[Dr. John Philip Nichols]], and Robert Frye at Picatinny Arsenal in May 1981, where Riconosciuto demonstrated his scientific and technical knowledge of weapons systems, particularly on a Railgun. Zokosky was also present at the September 10, 1981, Lake Cahuilla weapons demonstration in Indio, [[California]], where night-vision goggles and rifles were tested for [[Iran-Contra Affair|Contra]] leaders.[^1]

### Biological Warfare Technology
Zokosky was involved in the proposed development of biological warfare "viruses" at [[Stormont Laboratories]], allegedly developed in cow uteri. He, along with Robert Booth Nichols, presented a proposal to develop biological warfare technology and anti-toxin kits to the Army (Dr. Harry Fair at Picatinny Arsenal) and to [[FMC Corporation]]. This technology was described as capable of selectively wiping out segments of humanity with appropriate genetic material. Zokosky also discussed incubating viruses in fish tanks at [[Hercules Research]], where Michael Riconosciuto allegedly worked on the same technology.[^1]

### Connections to Robert Booth Nichols and Meridian International Logistics
Zokosky was a board member of [[Meridian International Logistics|MIL]], a holding company headed by Robert Booth Nichols. He stated that MIL was a "front company" used to funnel money to its board of directors, with funds allegedly coming from the [[NSA|NSA]], partly from drug profits. He believed that Robert Booth Nichols worked for the [[National Security Council|NSC]] and NSA, doing "contract work" for various government agencies, and that Nichols handled "corporate and government" transactions related to narcotics at a higher level.[^1]

Tang Yu's alleged ability to perceive written words through his ears was investigated by local and provincial officials, and eventually by the national Science Commission in Beijing. He was one of the first individuals to be identified as possessing [[Extraordinary Human Body Function]] (EHBF), and his case played a key role in the Chinese government's decision to officially sanction research into these phenomena.[^1]
