summary: "1933 alleged conspiracy by Wall Street financiers including the DuPont family to overthrow President Roosevelt and install a fascist dictatorship."
---
In 1933 members of the DuPont family became involved in what has since been euphemistically termed the Business Plot, a conspiracy to replace the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt with a fascist dictatorship. The scheme represented an overt attempt by segments of American industrial and financial elites to impose an authoritarian regime upon the United States, drawing on the same reactionary currents then ascendant across Europe. [[Francis Shelden|Shelden]] and his [[North Fox Island]] operation intersected with this same nexus of old money and impunity.
### Origins and Recruitment
In November 1934 Major General Smedley Butler informed a congressional committee that he had been approached by Grayson Murphy, a director at the Guaranty Trust Company, to lead a paramilitary force composed of American military veterans. The purpose of this force was to provide the muscle for a coup that would install [[Hugh S. Johnson]], then head of the National Recovery Administration, as dictator of the United States. Butler, a decorated Marine who would later denounce war as a racket, testified that the conspirators envisioned relegating the presidency to a ceremonial role while real power rested with a military-industrial cabal.
### Financial and Industrial Backing
The plot was financed through the Guaranty Trust Company, a J.P. Morgan financial institution with ties to City of London financiers. Armaments for the prospective paramilitary units were to be supplied by Remington Arms Co., a firearms subsidiary controlled by the DuPont family. The DuPonts were not merely passive investors; they were literally fascists in the author's assessment, having maintained cartel arrangements with the Nazi chemicals conglomerate I.G. Farben throughout the 1920s and 1930s. Alfred P. Sloan, who managed General Motors on behalf of the DuPonts from 1923 to 1966, personally authorized the transfer of Ethyl lead to the Luftwaffe as late as 1938. The largest tank manufacturer in Nazi Germany was Opel, a wholly owned GM subsidiary that continued operating under the American corporate umbrella throughout the Second World War.
### Legacy and Connections
The DuPont family's political influence did not end with the exposure of the Business Plot. Decades later, Joe Biden's first senatorial campaign was fully funded and staffed by DuPont employees in Delaware, and his family moved into an old DuPont mansion following his victory. The corporate culture instilled at General Motors during the DuPont-Sloan era persisted into the 1970s, when executives at the company were accused of participation in organized child abuse rings in Michigan. [[Francis Shelden]] and his North Fox Island operation intersected with this same nexus of old money and impunity.

summary: "Wave of UAP encounters in 1977 on the island of Colares, Brazil, where residents reported being attacked by beams of radiation from unknown craft."
---
The [[Colares Incidents]] refer to a wave of [[Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena|UAP]] encounters that occurred in 1977 on the island of Colares, in the state of Pará, Brazil. These events are notable for their prolonged duration, the wide variety of craft observed, and the direct, harmful physical effects on the local population.[^1]
### The Phenomena
For several months in 1977, the residents of Colares and the surrounding region were terrorized by a series of intense UAP sightings. The objects varied greatly in shape and size, from small, luminous orbs to massive, city-sized craft. Witnesses reported flying discs, spheres, triangles, and cylinders. These craft would often buzz small towns and villages at night, bathing the area in bright light.[^1]
What distinguished the Colares events was the aggressive nature of the phenomena. Witnesses reported being chased by yellow orbs that would turn blue before firing a laser-like beam, causing burns and sometimes rendering the victim unconscious. These lights were known by the locals as "chupa-chupa," meaning "suck-suck," due to the belief that they were extracting blood from their victims. The beams were reported to be able to penetrate the tiled roofs of houses, intelligently searching for occupants inside. Some witnesses also claimed that larger craft attempted to abduct them using nets and hooks.[^1]
### The Investigation and Biological Effects
The Brazilian Air Force launched an official investigation into the incidents, codenamed Operation Saucer (Operação Prato). A team of twenty investigators and physicians, led by Lieutenant Colonel Uyrange Hollanda, was dispatched to the region. The team interviewed hundreds of witnesses, treated the wounded, and documented the events with photographs and film footage, capturing images of mysterious objects, including one estimated to be three hundred feet long.[^1]
Dr. Wellaide Cecim Carvalho, a physician treating the local population, documented the medical effects of the encounters. She treated approximately forty people with burns consistent with thermal or directed energy exposure. In twenty-three cases, she noted two puncture wounds at the center of the burns. Blood tests of the victims revealed low hemoglobin levels, lending credence to the "chupa-chupa" nickname. Other reported symptoms included chronic headaches, nausea, temporary blindness, and long-term illnesses. Tragically, ten people are reported to have died as a result of their encounters.[^1]
Witnesses who claimed to have seen the occupants of the craft described two types of beings: tall, pale humanoids (often referred to as "Nordics") and small, frail beings with large heads (often referred to as "Grays").[^1]
### Aftermath and Secrecy
The Brazilian government officially shut down Operation Saucer and suppressed its findings, claiming no unusual phenomena had been found. The files remained classified until the 1990s. Colonel Hollanda, the lead investigator, died of an apparent suicide shortly after the files were released. The case was later studied by [[Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program]], with General Paulo Roberto Yog de Miranda Uchôa providing the program with access to the Brazilian military's archives on the incidents.[^1]

summary: "1983 head-on collision in Yosemite National Park foothills involving a Secret Service vehicle scouting Queen Elizabeth II's motorcade route, killing three agents and revealing allegations of cover-up and corruption."
---
The [[Queen's Accident]] refers to a head-on collision that occurred on March 5, 1983, in the Yosemite National Park foothills, involving a Mariposa County Sheriff's vehicle and a Secret Service car. The accident took place while scouting Queen Elizabeth II's motorcade route, approximately 25 minutes ahead of her motorcade. Three Secret Service agents, [[George P. LaBarge]], [[Donald Robinson]], and [[Donald A. Bejcek]], were killed in the collision. Mariposa County Sheriff's Sergeant [[Roderick Sinclair]], who was driving, sustained broken ribs and a fractured knee, while his partner, Deputy [[Rod McKean]], was also present.[^1]
### Circumstances and Cover-up Allegations
Allegations surfaced that [[Roderick Sinclair]] had been heavily drugged on the day of the accident, receiving large daily doses of Demerol prescribed by [[Dr. Arthur Dahlem]]. Nurses at Fremont Hospital, where Sinclair was initially treated, and some former deputies corroborated this. Assistant [[United States Attorney|U.S. Attorney]] [[James White]] in Fresno attempted to investigate Sinclair's drug use, ordering Dahlem's files seized. However, [[United States District Court|U.S. District Court]] Judge [[Robert E. Coyle]] intervened, ordering White to drop the criminal investigation, claiming Sinclair's drug problem was irrelevant and drug records inadmissible because no blood tests were taken at the hospital. Despite this, blood tests had been taken but later disappeared.[^1]
In the subsequent civil trial, Judge [[Robert E. Coyle]] ruled both Sinclair and the deceased Secret Service agents at fault, ordering Mariposa County to pay 70 percent of the claim. Ironically, Sinclair was later promoted to Commander of the Mariposa Sheriff's Department. The original [[California Highway Patrol|CHP]] report on the accident was reportedly sent to the [[California Attorney General's Office|State Attorney General's office]] ([[John Van de Kamp]]), who allegedly ordered it "discarded." [[Bruce Eckerson]], the Mariposa County District Attorney who owned stock in [[Music Corporation of America|MCA]] Entertainment Corporation, was then appointed to submit a new report. All [[California Highway Patrol|CHP]] officers involved in the original investigation either resigned, were transferred, or fired, as did [[James White]] himself after the alleged cover-up.[^1]
Deputy [[Rod Cusic]] stated he was "told by [[Roderick Sinclair]] to lie to a Grand Jury" about Sinclair's drug addiction and the accident, a disclosure he made to the Fresno [[Federal Bureau of Investigation|FBI]]. Cusic also witnessed a booby-trapped incendiary device explode at Sinclair's home. A 1984 civil trial revealed Sinclair's vehicle contained "a myriad of automatic weapons including a booby-trapped bomb" at the time of the collision.[^1]
### Subsequent Investigations and Connections
Years later, a CBS television executive and [[Ron Williams]], a Secret Service agent whose best friend was killed in the accident, sought [[Cheri Seymour]]'s help to investigate the incident. [[Don Thrasher]], a producer for ABC News 20/20, also investigated, corroborating details about [[Roderick Sinclair]]'s background, including his father's military service under [[Douglas MacArthur]] and Sinclair's own alleged work in Army C.I.D.[^1]
The [[Queen's Accident]] became a key element in the broader investigation into corruption in Mariposa County, as highlighted by [[Jerry Goldberg]]'s reporting for *Capitol News Service* and the efforts of [[D.I.G. (Decency in Government)|D.I.G.]].[^1]
