E. Roland Harriman (Edward Roland Noel Harriman, December 24, 1895 to February 16, 1978) was the younger son of the railroad financier [[E. H. Harriman]] and the brother of [[W. Averell Harriman]]. He was a member of [[Skull and Bones]] in the [[Yale University]] class of 1917, organized the banking house of [[Harriman Brothers & Co.]] with his brother, became a partner of [[Brown Brothers Harriman]], and was the largest registered holder of [[Union Banking Corporation]] when the [[Alien Property Custodian]] vested the company in 1942. He was chairman of the board of the [[Union Pacific Railroad]] from 1946 to 1969 and, by appointment of the President of the United States, the principal officer of the [[American Red Cross]] from December 1, 1950 to March 31, 1973.[^1]
