Haroldson Lafayette Hunt Jr. (February 17, 1889 to November 29, 1974) was a [[Dallas, Texas|Dallas]] oil producer whom [[Fortune (magazine)|Fortune]] named the richest man in the [[United States]] in 1948. He owned [[Hunt Oil Company]] and founded [[Placid Oil Company]], and from 1951 he paid for two tax-exempt broadcasting operations, [[Facts Forum]] and [[Life Line]], that carried anticommunist commentary to several hundred radio stations. He fathered fifteen children in three concurrent households. He wrote to [[Federal Bureau of Investigation|FBI]] Director [[J. Edgar Hoover]] from 1951 until 1971, and hired former FBI agents as his commentators and as his chief of security. On November 21, 1963, [[Jack Ruby]] drove a young woman to the Hunt offices in the [[Mercantile Securities Building|Mercantile building]] for an appointment with Hunt's son [[Lamar Hunt]]. Hunt did not testify before the [[Warren Commission]].[^1][^2][^3]
