At a Judiciary Committee oversight hearing on September 16, 2025, Senator [[John Kennedy]] of Louisiana asked Patel to whom Epstein had trafficked his victims besides himself. Patel answered: "There is no credible information, none. If there were, I would bring the case yesterday that he trafficked to other individuals." He added, "I am not saying that others were not trafficked and others were not involved," and said the bureau held only "limited search warrants" from the Florida investigation of 2006 and 2007.[^6]

### The OpenAI Recording Case
On October 13, 2026 the Justice Department announced the arrest and charge of [[Abdulrahman Alfozan]], an engineer at [[OpenAI]], for allegedly installing a recording device in an executive conference room at the company's San Francisco offices. Patel said in the release: "According to the complaint unsealed today, Abdulrahman Alfozan allegedly concealed a covert recording device inside his employer's executive conference room to secretly capture sensitive communications about the company's super intelligence technology." He added that "the FBI views that mission as one of our highest counterintelligence priorities."[^7] [[Scott Schelble]], special agent in charge of the bureau's San Francisco field office, said the agency is committed to protecting sensitive research and proprietary technology, as reported by the San Francisco Standard.[^8] Patel also thanked "Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton and our law enforcement partners," and the release states the prosecution is in support of National Security Presidential Memorandum 11 ([[NSPM-11]]).[^7]
