[[Simon Gabbay|Gabbay]] coordinated the October 1980 [[Paris Summit Meeting]] between [[Israel|Israeli]] and [[Iran|Iranian]] delegations, which included [[George H.W. Bush]], [[William J. Casey]], and [[Mehdi Karrubi]]. His role was to eliminate direct contact between [[Israel|Israeli]] and [[Iran|Iranian]] embassy personnel. He continued to serve this function in subsequent years.[^1]
