(Mike) Benitez]], and [[William Callaway]] were scheduled to meet with Rios at 10 a.m. on July 1, 1981, to initiate an investigation of [[Cabazon Indian Reservation|Cabazon tribal]] affairs, according to the *Indio Daily News*. Instead, Alvarez and two others were executed on June 29.[^1]
