Olof Jonsson (also spelled Olaf Johnson; full name Olof Taga Jonsson) was a Swedish-born American citizen and psychic who was Edgar Mitchell's Earth-side receiver in the Mind-to-Mind Telepathy test during the Apollo 14 mission, attempting to perceive the Zener cards that Mitchell was concentrating on from space.1 He died in Las Vegas on May 11, 1998 at the age of 79, a Las Vegas resident of 18 years, and the Las Vegas Sun described him as a former psychic adviser to Ferdinand Marcos.2 The Chicago Tribune reported that he worked for nearly two decades as an engineer with the Chicago architectural firm of Schmidt, Garden and Erikson and remained in Chicago until 1980, that in the Apollo 14 experiment he "named the cards in the correct order about half the time," and that as a young man in Sweden he gave police a detailed vision of a series of murders.3

An article in the Central Intelligence Agency STARGATE files describes a pre-flight test that Mitchell arranged two weeks before launch with a Chicago drafting engineer named Olof Johnson: ten sessions of 25 cards, 250 guesses, about half or 125 reported correct. The article states that results for the six lunar sessions (150 guesses) were not yet reported.4 Mitchell told Cabinet Magazine that the Earth-side group included "Olof Jonsson, who was a well-known public psychic in Chicago," and that Jonsson "told the press before we ever had a chance to look at the data."5
