Libyan leader who pressured African nations to cut ties with Israel and was linked to the disappearance of Shi'ite leader Sheikh Mussa Sadr. 1942 2011-10-20 Qasr Abu Hadi, near Sirte, Libya

Muammar Qaddafi was the leader of Libya. He played a role in Africa politics, promising money to black Africa nations if they cut ties with Israel. This led to a deterioration of relations between Israel and Uganda under Idi Amin.1

Muammar Qaddafi right-hand man, Abdul Salam Jalloud, visited Iran to congratulate the new regime after the Iranian Revolution. During his visit, Iran hosts questioned him about the disappearance of Sheikh Mussa Sadr, a Shi'ite leader from southern Lebanon, who was believed to have been killed by the Libya. Abdul Salam Jalloud was detained for three weeks until Muammar Qaddafi personally intervened and spoke to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.1
