Asana was co-founded by [[Dustin Moskovitz]], who had been chief technology officer and vice president of engineering at [[Facebook]], and [[Justin Rosenstein]], a former Facebook engineering manager and [[Google]] product manager. Moskovitz has been a director since December 2008 and chairman since December 2019, and was chief executive from October 2010 to July 2025, chief financial officer from 2009 to 2017 and secretary from 2009 to 2017. [[Dan Rogers]], formerly chief executive of LaunchDarkly, succeeded him as chief executive in July 2025.[^1] In 2016 [[Sam Altman]] led a 50-million-dollar investment in the company.[^2]
