James V. Desarno, Jr. was an Assistant Special Agent in Charge from the D.C. Metropolitan Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He was present at Paul Wilcher's apartment after Wilcher's death. Desarno, along with Craig Olson, was one of two Federal Bureau of Investigation agents present at the scene. Despite his presence, Desarno strongly denied that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was interested in or involved in the case, repeatedly stating, "We are not interested in this case."1
