[[Kami Feld]] is an officer with the [[Iowa State University Police Department]] (ISUPD) whose independent investigative work in 2020-2021 identified [[Clint Borge]], the previously unknown fourth core leader of [[CVLT]], completing the information picture that [[Homeland Security Investigations]] needed to seek a federal indictment against all four defendants.

### Iowa State Investigation
In November 2020, an Iowa State University freshman approached ISUPD to report that she was being blackmailed with sexual images taken of her when she was 16. A patrol officer initially interviewed the victim, and Officer Kami Feld took up the investigative work.

Feld issued subpoenas to electronic service providers including Google, PayPal, Venmo, Instagram, and Facebook. The subpoena responses returned IP activity across four different locations, including [[Hawaii]], [[Oregon]], and [[California]]. Feld also issued a search warrant.[^1]

At this point, Homeland Security Investigations Los Angeles was already investigating CVLT and had identified three of the four core leaders. The fourth was known only by the Discord alias "Whoops." Feld's subpoena results, combined with a digital wallet account associated with the target's IP activity, returned a Honolulu address linked to several questionable businesses, which Feld later said does not exist on Oahu.[^1] A third round of warrants on the digital wallet application returned a real name, Clint Borge of [[Pahoa, Hawaii]]; she then contacted the Hawaii ICAC task force, and HSI took the case 13 days later, having joined the Iowa State matter in June 2021.[^1][^2] In August 2021 Feld flew to Hawaii with federal agents, interviewed Borge and served a search warrant at his house; investigators seized eight terabytes of electronic evidence from his desktop.[^1][^2] The indictment followed on January 17, 2025 and was unsealed January 30, 2025.[^3]

Feld's investigation connected to the existing HSI case. Once HSI confirmed the Borge identification, investigators proceeded to the January 17, 2025 grand jury indictment. Borge, [[Collin Walker]], [[Kaleb Merritt]], and [[Rohan Rane]] were indicted in [[United States v. Rane et al. (2-25-cr-00040)|United States v. Rane et al., 2:25-cr-00040]], [[Central District of California]].[^4]

### Recognition
Iowa State University and ISUPD credited the original student complainant and Feld's investigative work publicly in February 2025, after the indictment was unsealed on January 30, 2025. Feld described the investigation at a Memorial Union seminar at Iowa State on March 31, 2026.[^2] Multiple news accounts identified the Iowa State case as the investigative link that broke open the fourth identification and allowed the federal prosecution to proceed against the full leadership of the enterprise.[^1]
