Shulamit Ingerman was a civilian cryptographer and head of the Iran desk in Unit 8200, an Israel Signals Intelligence (Sigint) unit. She was recognized as one of Israel best cryptographers, having won the highest award for contributions to Israel security twice.1
Shulamit Ingerman introduced Ari Ben-Menashe to the Iran team of six within Unit 8200. She was called by Ari Ben-Menashe when he successfully broke the Iran diplomatic code. She later intervened to obtain a pardon for Ari Ben-Menashe after he was court-martialed for insubordination by Sasson Yishaek.1
